If you and your little ones are all about creating your own Halloween masks, it’s time to get started!

All you need is a few art supplies and assorted embellishments, along with youthful creativity to fashion fun and funky Halloween masks for all your Trick or Treaters.

Start With A Basic Mask

There are loads of ready-made paper and plastic plain white masks in all sorts of shapes and sizes, available as single units or in multi-packages. So, whether you need to make just one mask, or you want to make it a group project, you’ll find a great selection from which to choose.

Paints For Every Age

Little ones may find that marking pens are easier (and less messy) than liquid paints when it comes to decorating their masks. Make it simple for them with colorful and safe marking pens. These pens are specifically made for children, and you don’t have to worry about any errant marker-covered fingers slipping into a mouth, as these products are non-toxic and child-safe.

Tempera Paint For Kids

Children who are ready to use paint can get creative with tempera paint. This matte finished paint is perfect for kids, and is water-based and non-toxic. Now you have even more tempera paint choices, as manufacturers have started making this traditional kid’s craft material in solid sticks. You’ll now find a wider array of colors including neon, and even squeeze- and-brush prefilled paint brushes.

Glitter Paint For Sparkle

Every kid loves glitter and glitz, so don’t forget to include some glitter paints to add extra pizzazz to the creations. There are all sorts of glitter paints; from dry pan watercolors and glitter pens to glitter infused acrylic paints and spray paint.

Choose paints that are suitable for the ages of your little artists, and let them go wild with all that color.

Add Embellishments

Your kids can use lots of different materials to complete their masks. Gather an assortment of colorful items like pompoms, feathers, craft foam, craft gems, washi tape, glue and scissors.

You can even find ‘grab bag’ assortments of foam shapes, pompoms, beads, sequins, sparkling rhinestones and other fun stuff to make a mask fit for Mardi Gras.

Ready-To-Go Mask Kit

Are you not feeling the love? Maybe you’re just a little too busy to round up all those assorted craft supplies. Maybe you’re not sure just what to choose. Or, maybe you just don’t want to go to all that hassle.

That’s okay. There are plenty of mask kits that have everything your little crafter needs to create the perfect Halloween disguise. All you need to do is add a work surface, some snacks, and a little monitoring and guidance!

Your kids will love creating their own masks, and it’s a fun way to have a family project that everyone will enjoy.
